A Sweet Sport with a Sour Name…
Pickleball is coming to North Haledon!
What is Pickleball? A paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels, combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn. However, once mastered, Pickleball can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game that can quickly become addictive to some.
The North Haledon Recreation Department is pleased to offer this adults-only program to residents of North Haledon 29 years of age and older. Players will need to provide their own regulation paddle and the program will provide the courts and the balls. Wednesday night and Sunday morning programs will be available.
Long-time resident and USA Pickleball Association Member (USAPA), Tony Vaccaro, will provide instruction which will include the rules of the game, how to play, how to score and keep score, and lots of strategy. We will be playing men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles. Play will range from social to competitive based on players’ skill levels. Information on local area tournaments will also be provided for those with experience.
Participants may sign up for either session for both sessions. Registration fees for either the Wednesday night or Sunday morning program is $35.00 and $60.00 to register for both sessions.
